Amata-Community-Government Collaboration

Amata Corporation Public Company, Amata Water Company and Amata Facility Services Company joined with Aqua Nishihara Corporation, United Analysis & Engineering Consultant Company, Khlong Tamru Municipality, Khlong Tamru Sub-district Administration, Chonburi Irrigation Department and the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) to develop sustainable water and waste management in local communities around Amata City Chonburi Industrial Estate.

This partnership has been made based on the positive outcome of a first phase initiated during 2018 to 2020 at Nong Mai Daeng Municipality, a community upstream of the main canal “khlong” that flows by the industrial estate. Whereof frequent laboratory tests of the canal’s water found significant improvement in water quality indicating that the community could meaningfully improve the management of water and waste.

Moving into phase 2 during 2022 to 2023, Khlong Tamru Municipality is the next downstream community before the canal drains into the sea, targeting to improve overall cleanliness and water quality that has been severely affected from improper wastewater and waste disposal by applying the experience collected from the projects’ first phase.

In addition, there is the plan for a phase 3 to carried out similar activities in further upstream communities to increase the overall efficiency of this project.

Speaking at the signing event, Mr. Viboon Kromadit, Director and Chief Marketing Officer said “This partnership is another step in Amata’s sustainability framework implemented in 2017 following the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) to turn Amata into a leading organization that possess internationally recognized sustainability standards. We don’t want to neglect the burden on communities to solve environmental problems on their own but seek partnerships and cooperation that can achieve a win-win situation for everyone, leaving nobody behind right according to our business philosophy ‘All Win’, moving forward together and achieving balanced and equally shared success.”
