The provision of occupational health services catering for the health of workers is very important, since productivity is dependent on the health status of the workers. Vibharam AMATA City Chonburi Hospital is well established and has been providing healthcare services to the 200,000-strong working community since 2014. The establishment of the hospitals will take some time; we look forward to the expansion of healthcare services in Chonburi and the establishment of a new hospital at our Rayong site.

About Vibharam AMATA Hospital

Amata Corporation Public Company Limited and Vibharam Hospital Company Limited established the joint-venture Vibharam (Amata Nakorn) Hospital Company Limited to develop a superior hospital facility at AMATA City Chonburi industrial estate catering to factory employees with the social security schemes and the wider community in and around the AMATA industrial park.

In 2014, the 9-storeys Vibharam AMATA Nakorn Hospital opened as the first hospital in the industrial estate, providing 100 inpatient beds, 11 ICU rooms, 8 emergency rooms, 31 outpatient beds, 4 operating theatres, a special cardiac room and health and disease specific clinics. In addition, the hospital specializes in occupational outpatient treatment and services for work-related illness and accidents. The arrival of Vibharam Amata Nakorn Hospital was a landmark development for AMATA City Chonburi Industrial Estate. Previously, workers requiring medical care would have found themselves referred to hospitals further away. Now, however, they can receive state-of-the-art treatment without leaving AMATA.

“In medicine, there is primary, secondary and tertiary care – we are tertiary care,” explains Hospital Director Dr Dhanoo Lawbundis. “It means we can take care of more serious medical problems, rather than referring patients to another hospital further away. We have an emergency room that is very well-equipped and an operation room that is very modern. People expect to have specialists on-site and even sub-specialists beyond that. Having those means that AMATA tenants and the community are better off. We are very patient-focused, and we have a facility for hemodialysis and Cardiac catheterization which would save life from heart attack. Not so many hospitals can do that.

“We provide a complete cycle of serious medical care, the best care for the people who works and live here,” Dr. Dhanoo added. “We want to have a hospital that can do everything – to provide a better life for all.”

The Vibharam Amata Nakorn Hospital has continuously expanded its services over the past years including providing more online services, and also expanded facilities by opening up a cancer specialized hospital next to the main building. This is, as Dr. Dhanoo explains, all part of Vikrom Kromadit’s vision for creating industrial cities. In Thailand, almost none of the 60+ industrial estates can provide on-site advanced medical facilities like AMATA.

During the recent 2-years long COVID-19 pandemic, the hospital played a crucial role to support factories in precautionary measurements providing screening and lab services and giving care and treatment to ill patients.
