On April 2, 2021, Amata Corporation PCL Senior Vice President Dr. Viwat Kromadit signed a joint Memorandum of Understanding between the Digital Economy Promotion Agency of Thailand (DEPA) and a group of eleven private sector businesses from Chachengsao province. The agreement aims to enhance and promote the government’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) initiative in Chachengsao province and developments under the EEC scheme concerning Amata's Smart City. First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Suchart Tancharoen was invited to serve as Chairman at the ceremony.

The MOU signing was part of the Padriew Innovation Week Presenting EEC x Smart City event, which included activities and booths to introduce technologies and innovative projects to the general public in the city of Chachoengsao.

At its booth, Amata showcased its best practices in water and waste management, with company executives and staff explaining the program to visitors.

Since 2017, Amata has subscribed to a “sustainable framework” as a key component of its business plan. Utilizing innovation and technology, Amata is evolving towards a Smart City that balances business, social and environmental factors, responding to global challenges and emerging risks.

The goal of Amata Smart City is to achieve significant improvement in four key areas. These are:

  • Economic: Improve the economy by attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) in Thailand's EEC-targeted industries.
  • Social: Pursue social goals, such as improving the quality of life and creating higher value-added job and training opportunities.
  • Environmental: Protect the environment through the use of sustainable technology and practices, including zero-waste discharge and green mobility.
  • Innovation: Embrace technological innovation by promoting a business ecosystem that supports research and development, experimentation and innovation.
